Delinquent brand period ends - Jan. 3, 2014
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Wyoming Livestock Board wants to remind people that the delinquent brand period has drawn to a close on the 2013 renewal period. In accordance with new legislation passed in 2013, any brand that was up for renewal and was not renewed by the March 1 deadline was considered delinquent. Any delinquent brands that were not renewed by December 31, 2013, will be declared legally abandoned and by law will be available to be applied for by other applicants. As part of the abandoned process all delinquent brands not renewed before December 31, 2013, will be moved to the abandoned brand category at the soonest convenient time after January 1, 2013.
As part of the research process on newly abandoned brands, recording staff will check for any delinquent fees that have been submitted to the Wyoming Livestock Board prior to December 31, 2013. Those fees that have been submitted prior to the December 31, deadline will be evidenced by a postmark or agency date stamp. Acceptance of applications for the newly abandoned brands from the 2013 renewal will commence on January 13, 2014, in order to process those delinquent brands received that have been postmarked prior to December 31, 2013.
After a delinquent brand has been deemed abandoned, the applications for delinquent brands will be processed and researched for identical and look-a-like conflicts on a first come first serve basis. No lists of abandoned brands from the 2013 renewal will be published or released until after January 13, 2014, in order to process any delinquent brands that were legally renewed under W.S. 11-20-115 which are be shown to be postmarked or date stamped prior to December 31, 2013. Lists of abandoned brands can be viewed at the Livestock Board office or ordered from the office.
The Wyoming Livestock Board also wants to remind people that the 2013 edition of the Wyoming State Brand Book is available. The book is available for $35 plus $5 shipping and handling. Quantities are limited, so books are available of a first come, first serve basis. The brand book is also available in CD version for $22.
