“Today’s Agriculture, Feeding the World” Forum Oct. 7 in Torrington – Sept. 16, 2010
–Free event open to public
TORRINGTON–A global perspective on the impact of technology on agriculture will be the first topic discussed at the Oct. 7 “Today’s Agriculture, Feeding the World” Forum held at the Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) Fine Arts Auditorium. Dr. Gary Sides, with Pfizer Animal Health, presents a very entertaining, science based and global view of how we use technology to feed the world. Dr. Sides will speak from 9-11 a.m. The forum is open to the public.
From 1-2:30 p.m. South Dakota ranchers Troy and Stacy Hadrick will show the audience how to share agriculture’s story in today’s world. Troy and Stacy, founders of Advocates for Agriculture, have had a remarkable amount of experience dealing with consumers and the media in their young agricultural careers.
However, some of their attempts dealing with the media have been more successful than others. Troy and Stacy will walk you through their experiences, including dealing with a major national publication, and how they have used that single event to transform their thinking and their daily lives. This incredible story will captivate the audience and motivate them to tell the positive story of agriculture.
Agriculture tours will follow the speakers’ forum. The tours will depart from EWC at 2:45 p.m. and return at 5:15 p.m. The tours include Miller Cattle & Feedyards, LLC and the UW SAREC research and extension facility.
A luncheon for young farmers and ranchers and Farm Bureau members will be held at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $10; RSVP requested for lunch participants. Please contact Kerin Clark at 866.272.2197 or [email protected].
The forum is presented in partnership by the Wyoming Farm Bureau Young Farmer & Rancher Committee, Goshen County Farm Bureau and the Eastern Wyoming College Agriculture Department. Please feel free to attend any or all of the sessions.
