Perry Livingston elected to sixth term as Wyoming Farm Bureau President – Nov 13, 2010
CODY—Perry Livingston, of Sundance, was elected to his sixth term as President of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation (WyFB) at the organization’s 91st annual meeting in Cody. Livingston and his family run a cow/calf operation in Crook and Weston Counties.
“It is a real privilege to continue serving agriculture and Wyoming Farm Bureau members,” Livingston said. “It is an honor to serve our members who make this grassroots organization a strong voice for agriculture.”
Voting delegates elected Jim Hefenieder (pronounced Hefeneeder) to his sixth term as WyFB vice president. Hefenieder, and his wife, Beth, live near Worland where he farms and feeds cattle with his family.
“Farm Bureau is the voice for agriculture and it is an honor to work on behalf of our members,” Hefenieder stated. “My commitment to leadership in Farm Bureau is an important component of our family’s agriculture operation and necessary for our future as well as the future of all of Wyoming agriculture.”
Dale Heggem, of Veteran, was elected to the position of Director-At-Large. Heggem and his wife, Abby, have two sons. Heggem works for the Wyoming Department of Agriculture as the state grain warehouse examiner.
“I look forward to working with Farm Bureau members to ensure agriculture is protected for future generations,” Heggem stated.
Glen Reed, of Cody, was elected as the Northwest District Director. Reed has served on the Wyoming Farm Bureau board as the Director-At-Large for the past two years. He farms with his younger brother Dennis. They operate an irrigated farm, primarily raising sugar beets and malt barley. He and his wife, Tonia, have two daughters.
Reed succeeds Keith Hamilton, of Hyattville. Hamilton has served on the Wyoming Farm Bureau board of directors from 1995-2010. “Keith’s knowledge about the agriculture industry and his ability to work with people has been a tremendous asset for the organization,” Livingston said. “We appreciate his years of service and the mark he has made on the organization.”
Margaret Lester was elected as the Southwest District Director. Lester and her husband, Ren, live on the family ranch south of Evanston. They have six children and eighteen grandchildren.
“I’m anxious to be able to serve the members in our district to help preserve our agriculture lifestyle,” Lester stated.
In addition to the three statewide elections, five district directors and the Young Farmer & Rancher state chair serve on the state board.
The Young Farmer & Rancher Committee elected Chalsey Kortes to serve a fifth term as the state committee chair. This position has a seat on the WyFB Board of Directors. Kortes and her parents run a cow/calf operation near Hanna.
Rounding out the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors are district directors: David Garber, Northeast District Director; Kevin Baars, Southeast District Director; and Tim Pexton, Central District Director.
“We welcome all the new board members,” Livingston concluded. “We appreciate their dedication to leadership in the organization as well as the continued leadership of the veteran board members.”
