November 15 Sales Closing Date Approaches for Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF) Program

Wyoming producers are reminded of the November 15 sales closing date for the Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF) Program, administered by the USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA). The PRF Pilot Program is available in all Wyoming counties and in all adjoining states. Because November 15 falls on a Saturday in 2014, the effective sales closing date for the 2015 crop year is November 17. Interested producers are encouraged to soon visit with their crop insurance agent to learn additional program details. Producers should also ask their agent about recent program changes and seek help in reviewing their historical grid information. An agent locator tool is available on the RMA website at   


Wyoming Farm Bureau 95th Annual Meeting Nov. 13-15 in Sheridan

“Celebrating our Heritage…Pursuing our Future” is the theme for the 95th Annual Meeting of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation (WyFB).  The meeting will be Nov. 13-15, 2014 at the Holiday Inn in Sheridan. 

Policy discussion is the main purpose of the meeting and guides the work of the organization.  According to Ken Hamilton, WyFB Executive Vice President, the resolutions range from support for CDL driver’s license changes to groundwater control areas; and from trespass laws to Big Horn and Domestic Sheep issues.


Farm Bureau YF&R Collegiate Discussion Meet competition Nov. 13 in Sheridan

Wyoming college students are invited to participate in the 2014 Farm Bureau Young Farmer & Rancher (YF&R) Collegiate Discussion Meet competition during the annual meeting of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation (WyFB) in Sheridan.  The competition will be Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at Sheridan College.

Being an advocate for agriculture is more important now than ever and should be a part of everyone’s business plan.  Participating in the YF&R Discussion Meet competitions will help develop leadership and advocacy skills and provide networking opportunities with other young farmers and ranchers from around the state.


Trick or Truth: What the EPA Isn’t Telling You About Its Latest Clean Water Act Rule – Oct. 30, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 30, 2014 – The American Farm Bureau Federation today released a legal analysis, “Trick or Truth? What EPA and the Corps of Engineers Are Not Saying About Their Waters of the U.S. Proposal.” The seven-page paper shows how a recent Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers “Q&A” misleads the public about their proposed expansion of federal jurisdiction over waters.

Cowboy Fans headed to the University of Wyoming Cowboy Homecoming Football game vs. San Jose State on Oct. 18 can check all items off this list.  The Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation has partnered with UW Sports to hold a “Celebrate Agriculture/Harvest for All” canned food drive to benefit the Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies.  The first 1,000 Cowboy Fans to donate canned food items will receive a game day t-shirt.


Statement by Bob Stallman, President, American Farm Bureau Federation, Regarding Passage of H.R. 5078 WOTUS Regulatory Overreach Protection Act – Sept. 9, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 9, 2014 –“The House of Representatives today stood with farmers and ranchers and against the regulatory overreach of the EPA,” said American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman.  “Passage of H.R. 5078 isn’t just a clear rejection of the overreach that lies in the EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. rule. Today’s action is an unmistakable signal that the tide is turning against those who ignore the constitutional separation of powers in the United States. We will ditch this rule.
