Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 Fact Sheet

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Stability Act (CARES Act) and the Commodity Credit
Corporation (CCC) Charter Act authorized the funds for the original CFAP. CCC funds will be used
for CFAP 2, with the exception of tobacco, which will use remaining CARES Act funds.
FSA is accepting applications for CFAP 2 from September 21, 2020, to December 11, 2020.

Trump and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced on Sept. 18 up to an additional $14 billion for agricultural producers who continue to face market disruptions and associated costs because of COVID-19. Trump, Biden Outline Agricultural Priorities – Sept. 9, 2020

A new look into the priorities for rural America of President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden is revealed in responses to a questionnaire distributed by the American Farm Bureau Federation. AFBF asked the Republican and Democratic candidates to respond with their stances on several topics directly affecting America’s farmers, ranchers and rural communities, including trade, labor, regulatory reform and sustainability. AFBF, WyFB Supports Wildfire Mitigation Efforts – September 16, 2020

The American Farm Bureau Federation and 13 state Farm Bureaus, including the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation, are asking Congress to give federal land management agencies additional tools and resources to prevent and recover from catastrophic wildfires. The Farm Bureaus sent a letter to Senate leadership in support of the Emergency Wildfire and Public Safety Act of 2020. The bipartisan legislation being considered today will expedite forest management, accelerate post-fire restoration and reforestation, and remove dead and dangerous wood from national forests. “What can we do to help?” Those are the first calls, texts and emails I get when a disaster hits farm country. It never surprises me to hear from Farm Bureau leaders across the country immediately looking for ways to help one another. Loading up the truck to help our neighbors is the natural, first response for farmers and ranchers. In fact, no sooner have the storm clouds cleared than our tires are already kicking up dust as we head down the road to see what we can do. USDA and Wyoming Sign Shared Stewardship Agreement to Improve Forests and Grasslands – August 25, 2020

Cheyenne, Wyoming, August 25, 2020 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue joined Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon today in a virtual ceremony to sign a Shared Stewardship Agreement between USDA’s Forest Service and the State of Wyoming. The Shared Stewardship Agreement establishes a framework for federal and state agencies to promote active forest management, improve collaboration, and respond to ecological challenges and natural resource concerns in Wyoming. USDA Announces More Eligible Commodities for CFAP

Application Deadline Extended to Sept. 11, and Producers Who Have Approved Applications to Receive Final Payments

 (Washington, D.C., Aug. 11, 2020) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced August 11 that additional commodities are covered by the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) in response to public comments and data. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is extending the deadline to apply for the program to September 11th, and producers with approved applications will receive their final payment. After reviewing over 1,700 responses, even more farmers and ranchers will have the opportunity for assistance to help keep operations afloat during these tough times. (more…)
