Farm Bureau:  United States needs to explore domestic energy

“Second only to interest rates, the price of energy related inputs most affects U.S. agriculture’s bottom line on an annual basis,” Troy Bredenkamp, American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Director of Congressional Relations, told Wyoming Farm Bureau members at their annual meeting in Casper.  “At the same time, U.S. agriculture has a tremendous opportunity, through renewable energy production, to play a significant role in solving the U.S. energy situation.”

 

 

Wyoming Farm Bureau sets policy for coming year

COOL, eminent domain, instream flow and capital tax gains were among the issues discussed at the 86th annual meeting of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation (WyFB).  Held in mid-November, the meeting is an important step in the grassroots policy development process of Farm Bureau.  Voting delegates gathered in Casper to discuss resolutions that had surfaced at the county level.

Herman Strand, of Casper, was awarded the 2005 Farm Bureau Leadership Award at the 86th annual meeting of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation (WyFB) held Nov. 10-12.  The award is given to those who have dedicated their time and talents to the betterment of Farm Bureau and Wyoming agriculture.  Strand has provided leadership to the Wyoming Farm Bureau for over 30 years.

Fuel and energy costs, beef export market and the need for water development were three important issues identified by the 2005 Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation (WyFB) Young Farmer & Rancher (YF&R) Excellence in Agriculture Award winners.  Kerby and Ami Barker, of Evanston, received their award at the organization’s annual meeting last week in Casper.  Barker’s stated that these three areas are important for agriculture to address in the next five years.

WyFB: Grizzly delisting-it's time

The Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation applauded today's Department of Interior announcement of a draft delisting rule for the grizzly bear population in Wyoming.

"We are hopeful that this will lead to some relief for our agriculture producers," Ken Hamilton, WyFB executive vice president, said. "We feel this is something that has been denied Wyoming producers for way too long. We are hoping there will not be any legal challenges in an effort to draw this out."

UW Student Wins Collegiate Discussion Meet

Discussions about today’s perception of the agriculture industry and agri-terrorism led University of Wyoming (UW) student Clayton Elliott to win the second annual Wyoming Farm Bureau (WyFB) Young Farmer & Rancher Collegiate Discussion Meet. Elliott competed Oct. 5 with six other agriculture students in the event held at the UW College of Agriculture.

YF&R Contestants Sought
