Fremont County’s David and Darlene Vaughan receive Wyoming Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award – Nov. 22, 2011

LARAMIE—David and Darlene Vaughan, of Fremont County, were awarded the 2011 Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award at the 92nd annual meeting of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation (WyFB).  Presented Nov. 11, the award is given to those who have gone above and beyond in their service to agriculture.

“Dave and Darlene share all aspects of their work for Farm Bureau, their community and our country,” stated Wyoming Farm Bureau President Perry Livingston.   “They are true patriots deserving to receive the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation Distinguished Service Award.”

The Vaughan’s began their involvement with Farm Bureau in 1982 when Fremont County rancher Betty Hornecker asked them to attend a meeting.

“We are so glad we attended that first meeting,” the Vaughans stated when receiving the award.  “Farm Bureau is like family to us.  Thank you.”

David and Darlene have served in many different capacities of leadership.   David served four terms a president of the Fremont County Farm Bureau and also served as director-at-large on the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation board of directors.

For the past 20 years, David and Darlene have organized Fremont County Farm Bureaus program of taking FFA students to the Wyoming Farm Bureau Legislative Meeting.  They arrange meetings with the Governor and other state elected officials.  They also visit the House and Senate chambers, visit other state departments and learn the art of lobbying at the Farm Bureau legislative dinner.

“Dave and Darlene have a positive influence on many young students from Fremont County,” Livingston stated.

Darlene serves as chair of the Fremont County Republicans and is president of the Wyoming Republican Women.  They are both active in natural resource issues, including the wolf and grizzly bear.  Dave serves on the Natural Resources Committee at the request of the Fremont County Commissioners.

“The Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation is proud to honor David and Darlene Vaughan with the 2011 Distinguished Service Award honoring their years of service,” Livingston concluded.  “We thank David and Darlene for their dedicated leadership on behalf of the Fremont County Farm Bureau, the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation and the state’s agriculture industry.”
