Karen Henry receives Wyoming Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award

Casper --How do you say any more about a lady who has given her life to agriculture?  WyFB Vice President Perry Livingston said.  Karen Henry has dedicated eleven years as our president and it has been my honor to serve with her on the board.

The Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation bestowed its highest award, the Distinguished Service award, to Karen Henry who served as president of the organization from 1994-2005.  Presented last Friday at the organizations 86th annual meeting, the award is given to those who have gone above and beyond in their service to agriculture.

Henrys service to agriculture began many years ago when she began attending
Farm Bureau meetings as a child with her grandparents.  Since those days, Henry has served in many positions at the county, district and state level.  Henry served as the organizations vice president and director-at-large prior to her election as president.

She has served as a member of the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) board of directors.  During that time, she was appointed to AFBFs trade advisory committee where she traveled on several trade missions.  She has been a strong advocate for Wyoming agriculture and all of the states agricultural commodities.

Henry also serves on various multiple-use groups in Uinta County.  She is a strong supporter of youth in agriculture ranging from 4-H and FFA to the WyFB Young Farmer & Rancher program.

She and her husband, Garie, own and operate a cow-calf operation near Robertson.  They also raise native hay and own federal grazing permits for both BLM and Forest Service land.  They have four children and eleven grandchildren.

I feel like I was just doing a job that needed to be done, Henry stated.  It has been my honor to serve as the Wyoming Farm Bureau president and I sincerely appreciate this award.
